Issue-based Scorecards

Did you know that New York has the second to lowest youth voter turnout in the country?!? New York should be at the head of the class, not the back of it.

While many are too young to vote in this election, people of ANY age can still play a meaningful role in influencing and supporting voters.  Our teens at YVote have conducted research on “why vote?” and what gets in the way. One of their key findings is that many (MOST!) young people are interested in creating political change; the problem is 1) they don’t see how voting and their vote can make a difference and 2) they don’t feel they have enough information to know how to navigate the complex, confusing voting process or to cast an informed vote.

In response to these concerns, YVoters have created a multi-part Youth Voter Guide inclusive of infographics and a video, along with Issue Score Cards for Climate, Criminal, Gender, LGBTQ+, Immigration, and Racial Justice to help prospective voters ask themselves the right questions to assess candidates and hold elected officials accountable.

Also, YVote youth provide peer-to-peer workshops for school and community groups! To learn more or set up a workshop for your community, contact Sanda at [email protected]
