leading the change
Generation after generation, we look to youth to lead us in building a more just and inclusive society. The youth we work with show us that civic engagement is crucial for shaping and protecting the future of democracy.
But how can we best support our youngest leaders in taking on this mantle and shouldering the responsibilities of democracy? Our programs equip young people with the civic knowledge and advocacy skills needed to create change, and it's equally as important to go beyond education and make space for youth at the decision making table.
youth civic hub
Developed by YVote and New Voters, the Youth Civic Hub is a for-youth, by-youth platform synthesizing civic resources and opportunities for NYC teens. The Hub is updated regularly with new events, programs, organizations, and voting information—all geared towards young changemakers.
nyc youth agenda
Since 2021, youth from YVote and partner organizations have developed an annual NYC Youth Agenda to create a more youth-friendly and youth-forward New York City. The NYC Youth Agenda Steering Committee uses data from the Youth Ask Youth Census and community events to determine which issue areas matter most to NYC youth and develops actionable policy recommendations for the city's elected officials.
nyc civic coalition
The NYC Civic Coalition brings together leaders of key civic nonprofits, researchers, evaluators, and funders to build a civic participation ecosystem to deepen New York City youth's knowledge of the electoral system and its impact on their lives and to extend their civic participation between election cycles.
